WILDLIFE & CONSERVATION
Your future doesn’t have to wait. You already know you want to work with wildlife. Start building that life now.
We’re developing a learning pathway that works backwards from recognised qualifications and career entry requirements, helping you build the knowledge, skills and body of work that become your living résumé.
Online learning. Field journals and kits. Excursions and local learning hubs.
For home education or alongside school. Currently in development.
BEGIN WITH THE LIFE YOU WANT
Work backwards. Start now.
A wildlife keeper. A conservation scientist. A wildlife rescuer.
Whatever draws you towards this work, there are skills to develop, entry requirements to understand and experience worth building.
Wild Kin starts with those destinations and works backwards, shaping purposeful learning around the steps that lead there.
Through field observations, research, practical projects and creative documentation, young people build a living résumé: a growing body of work that demonstrates their knowledge, capabilities and commitment, while helping home-educating families document learning against their state or territory’s home education requirements.
So when it’s time to apply for further study, placements or employment, they have more than an interest. They have work to show.
HOW THE PATHWAY WORKS
A future you can start building now.
1. Know where you’re heading
Explore wildlife and conservation careers, understand what the work involves, and identify the qualifications, entry requirements and experience needed to get there. Work backwards from the roles that interest you to discover what you can begin learning and practising now.
2. Make your learning count
Follow a developing online curriculum supported by printed field journals, practical kits and excursion packs. Connect learning with field experiences and local hubs, as part of home education or alongside school.
3. Know yourself. Work together.
Build career readiness and wellbeing through self-discovery, teamwork and practical experience. Understand what you bring, step forward when leadership is needed, and listen with humility to elders, mentors and those with greater knowledge.
4. Build your living résumé
Bring your research, observations, projects and practical experience into a growing portfolio. Use that body of work to show your capabilities as you prepare for future study, placements and employment.
